Though I'm also partial to the original due to the lack of pros, never liked how they were out of balance with the Backyard Kids and their lame personalities either. I'm not exactly a fan of the Sonic Adventure cast, if you can't tell.
Did they really have to put Lani Minella on both announcers? And to me they're just such a far cry from the original voices that really defined the characters to me, even '05 did a better job at capturing the spirit of the original voices. '03 made so few changes to the formula, and I'm sorry, but the voice acting in '03 really kills the game to me. If I have to recommend either, '01 is honestly better to me. I think the sequels also omitted the teams you can only see in the playoffs (the Mammoths, the Oysters, the Pansies.no, I'm not making that last one up), but correct me if I'm wrong there. One extra improvement to the original that you missed - in the seasons, they distribute any unpicked players across the other teams starting with '01, whereas in the original the opposing teams are populated completely with the generic filler kids.
In the first game, you were told how to play as Clanky after the credits rolled following the championship.where in '01, you don't even get anything for winning the game (not even a credit sequence!), so the only way you can know the secret is to either have beaten the first game already or use the Internet. In the first two games you had to hold shift and click on him in the clubhouse (you don't need to have beaten the game either, he's always around from the start), but I believe in '03 you have to beat the game first before you can play as him. They're nothing to write home about, the only thing they remotely add is new good day/bad day chemistry for.what, two whole players? One of which I don't think anyone actually ever picks?Ī few more things - Mr. Regarding '03 though.those so-called "new fields" are actually just reskins of old fields (The Paveway is a blatant reskin of Cement Gardens, Casa De Pablo is just Dirt Yards, Scrapo Field is the same as Playground Commons, and Dubois Diamond is the same as Eckman Acres). Wow, I thought I knew the games in depth. '01 & '03 are essentially the same with a few differences. I'd choose Stephanie a lot more often in '97 because she is better in nearly every way, and that sentiment is fairly true for most kids. What we talk about is generally correct (Achmed is still an awesome power hitter, and Amir plays better with him), but specifics are definitely different. In '97 if a player was having a bad or good day you couldn't see what ratings changed, in '01/'03 you can see what their exact ratings were on a given day Season games are not all played on the same field IIRC you don't get batting powerups in '97 for turning a double play Kenny & Pablo are no longer top pitchers, Jorge somehow learned to hit with that swing, Ricky can't hit at all with his. Stats changed when going from a 4/4 to a 10/10 system. And I'm not just talking about bouncing it, they can't even roll it that far. Some players in '01/'03 can't even reach base to base. In '97 a lot of errors are cause by throwing while it is much rarer in '01/'03 as the throwing power is much weaker. Most notably throwing is much stronger in '97. All is IIRC (tell me if I miss something). I'm going to omit most things about pros and secondary things like standing structure in season play. It is the same basic game but with some distinct differences. The original (hereafter referred to as '97) is different.
